78 Rip Request

Postby Triangulator » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:50 am

There is a 78 on Ebay that I would like to buy, 78 rpm KEN GRIFFIN [ organ ] the petite waltz / rudolph the red nosed reindeer - but need somebody to rip it for me. Is there anyone that can do this, or let me know where else I can go?

Cheers,
Triangulator

Hi Triangulator,

It's quite likely means can be found, but it may have been done already (try binsearch) or a newsgroup REQ for the tracks. Unless you want the disk regardless.

In which case give us a rough location, there may be a 78 ripper next door ! :D

Hi Kirk,

I have searched the newsgroups and can only find 78 rips by Gene Autry and The Pinafores w. Orchestra, Columbia 38610 (HCO 3810); not the Columbia FB 3576 which I was looking to fill your uSM50_004 - Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer.mp3 with.

I am not really interested in keeping the vinyl, just the tracks - do you have a version yet for your SM posting?

Cheers,
Triangulator

Hi Triangulator,

No I don't have that version yet, just these (note the numbers are the old format)

Image

The plan is to have at least two tracks per entry in the initial post. Each number will have it's recordings in an album-like format with a.b.c.d, added to the number. This will match their order in the spreadsheet, 'a' being first, 'b' second etc. Any recordings missing that are later found, can be numbered accordingly, or added to the list. Allows a maximum of 26 recordings per entry which should be enough.
If the filename doesn't have a subletter, no problem it will still play with any others. But after d-clicking a Prefix a list of all recordings etc. shows then a single click on the artist will show what labels, lyrics, mp3s, covers are found (for that individual track). A d-click plays it.

Found a copy of Petite Waltz and you can grab it here -

I'll ask around for Reindeer. There's every chance... and thanks for helping with the sheetmusic collection :D

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for the file, it sounds really good!

If looks very much like it could be the flip side of the 78 I have been looking at (Columbia D.B. 2780)

Here is a copy of the Label (the seller doesn't show the flip side, Reindeer)

Pleased to help,

Here is a copy of the Gene Autry - Rudolf, The Red Nosed Reindeer Label (Columbia FB 3576) - (the seller doesn't show the flip side of this either, which should be: SANTA, SANTA, SANTA - COLUMBIA FB 1576 EX)

Dropbox: Gene Autry - Rudolf, The Red Nosed Reindeer.jpg

Thanks for the labels Traingulator ! Nice going.... 78 ones are much harder to find. There's rumours that 45Cat is launching a 78Cat website but nothing's shown up yet.
