They're all there Dave. Can you turn on partial downloads and / or recreate using the par files?

Great posting Bert, much appreciated.

Have been going through your Britburn 1980 info list.

With regards to the following :-

u80_143a - Tom Browne - Funkin' 4 Jamaica (N.Y.).mp3
u80_175a - Coffee - Casanova.mp3
u80_227a - Mystic Merlin - Just Can't Give You Up.mp3
u80_295a - Sad Cafe - Strange Little Girl.mp3
u80_311a - Tony Rallo & The Midnite Band - Holdin' On.mp3
u80_314a - The Rah Band - Falcon.mp3
u80_340a - Wilton Felder - Inherit The Wind.mp3
u80_351a - Billy Joel - All For Leyna.mp3
u80_353a - Fatback - Backstrokin'.mp3
u80_360a - Daryl Hall & John Oates - Running From Paradise.mp3
u80_384a - Shalamar - Right In The Socket.mp3
u80_415a - Baby 'O - In The Forest.mp3
u80_446a - Freeez - Keep In Touch.mp3
u80_552a - Anne Murray - Daydream Believer.mp3
u80_553a - Randy Crawford - Last Night At Danceland.mp3

..... I believe I have the 7'' singles of these so I'll be able to let you know about times etc.

Only problem is I had to have my house re-wired recently and ALL of my vinyl has been packed, boxed and stored away. As such it will take a while but I'll get them (eventually).

ALSO, and more importantly, I've found a 160k CD copy of Jon Pertwee's Worzel Song (u80_300a - Jon Pertwee - Worzel's Song.mp3) on an old hard drive. It wasn't (and isn't) my rip). In fact I don't know where or how I got it. But there's NO NOISE and I'm posting in alt.binaries.sounds.1980s in a min.

Hope this helps

Sorry for sounding thick but how do you turn on partial downloads etc? lol.If you could relist them,it would be great.Even though i'm on broadband it's not a really fast downloading speed.

Huge thanks for the reply :)

Hi Dave,

I've reposted those 4 for you, hope your news server picks them up this time.

Also Bert,

Allthough Dotty's new copy of 80_300a is clean it is a different version than the one that you posted. I'm not sure which is the correct single version so I've had a go at cleaning your noisy version and posted that one as well. It's by no means perfect but it is a lot better, see what you think.

Cheers
Glinty

Worzel's Song

I've been trying to find some evidence on the Internet (A youtube/stream) but cannot find anything conclusive so this is from my memory.

My girlfriend (later wife and even later ex wife) at the time was a big fan of Worzel Gummidge and I am a big fan of Dr Who. So we both had a bit of a common factor with Jon Pertwee.

I think (though memory is a fickle mistress) that the song that charted in 1980 was based on the theme song of the series but was sufficiently different. Listening to both the original download and Dotty's post my money is on the original download being the charting track and Dotty's is an adaptation of the theme tune - possibly a re-recording from later in the decade when the series was revived in Australia.

However, as I said I may be mistaken.

By the way good clean up Glinty - what software did you use?

Regarding u80_522b - Gary Glitter - The Gary Glitter (EP) - 02 - Rock 'N' Roll (Part II).
Part II was the instrumental B-side, which was more popular, but the version here is Part I with the vocals.
Which version should it be?

The original post is ripped from a really poor vinyl copy of Decca F 13885

It's definately Part II on the cover and label, I think it's probably safe to assume the wrong version slipped through!

My post was from the Aussie Travelogue CD re-issue, which contained the original EP as bonus tracks. The 03:45 version was the original 1978 Being Boiled / Circus Of Death single.

This was quite a hard one to pin down precisely, as there were several different versions, in several different formats, including mis-pressings, a Japanese release with a UK catalogue number and a re-issue two years later.

Hence I did quite a lot of research into this one, and I believe the GBHS is incorrect to credit the 2 x 7" double vinyl with the chart run. This was limited to 10,000 pieces and was quickly re-issued as a single 7" 45 with the tracklisting shown in the spreadsheet. Information received from a Human League specialist is that the 2x7" was #80 on 26th April 1980 but that this was overtaken in sales by the single 7" the following week when it entered the Top 75. Both had the same cat # too.
Hence the tracklist should be as per the posting, not as per the spreadsheet.
