1974

Postby Bassman » Tue May 22, 2012 4:25 am

Hi Everybody

I hope you all enjoyed the 1973 posting!!

Pushing on with the 1970's, (the recent BBC 2 series must have wetted my appetite), once again we are looking to maintain the high standard of quality set in the 1972/73 postings.

However in order to complete at least all the A Sides for 1974, we are looking for all/any of these in the bubblers section.

Charlie Thomas And The Drifters - Midsummer Night In Harlem
Stavros Xarhakos Orchestra - The Lotus Eaters
Jungle Juice - Zoo Gang
Millican & Nesbitt - Near You
Lyn Paul - Who's Sorry Now
Freddy Breck - Years Of Love
John Christie - Everybody But Me
G. T. Moore & The Reggae Guitars - I'm Still Waiting
Bill Barclay - Twelve Days Of Christmas
Zig Zag - The Bump
Robert Knight - Better Get Ready For Love
Rockin’ Berries - Rock-A-Bye Nursery Rhymes
Rab Noakes - Clear Day
Ken Dodd - Unless
Chris Rainbow - Solid State Brain
Pearls - Wizard Of Love
Lyn Paul - Sail The Summer Winds
Vince Hill - Among My Souvenirs
Jimmy Osmond - Little Arrows
Ricky Wilde - Teen Wave
H. B. Barnum - Having A Party (Part I)
London Stadium Orchestra - Lap Of Honour
Mick Robertson - The Tango's Over
Sunny - A Warm & Tender Romance
Peters & Lee - Closer
Virginia Mckenna - The Love That I Have (Violette)

If you can help then please let us know.

Many thanks

Have posted the Ricky Wilde track and also the following.

Johnny Nash - Tears On My Pillow - Correct 45 version which has a slighly different mix and is slightly shorter.

The Temptations - Law Of The Land - Correct 45 version.

Billy Preston - Will It Go Round In Circles - This is longer than the USA version and is taken from the UK 45.

Hi swinburneivan

Thanks for the Ricky Wilde track.

I've picked up the 1973 amendments and will deal with them in the next couple of days.

Thanks

Hi swinburneivan

The next couple of days should have come with rider that "providing my external hard drive doesn't go fizz band" which it did two days ago. Fortunately all the data was recoverable but it took me off the air for two days.

Now dealing with the tracks you sent over and the amendments should be posted in the next few days.

Cheers

Thanks so much for the 74 post :D filled a few holes.
Listening my way through them and thought I would mention the R Dean Taylor "there's a ghost in my house" track, I believe the one posted is the Motown box set version and not the single version.
Sadly I can't send you the link I'd posted a few years back because RS took down my account.
But great work all, from a very occasional visitor :D

Hi - I think it's from the collected Motown singles, but I also have the original version and never realised the difference.

I should have checked as Motown are notorioous for changing tracks in their remasters, not always for the better. I've got the original without the extra backing chorus and I'll pass it over to Kirk to do the necessary.

Cheers
