1971 - Bruce Ruffin ? (One Last Track)

Postby Bassman » Sat Sep 17, 2011 5:57 am

Hi All

Just when we thought it was safe to claim 1971 was complete, a small issue raises it's ugly head.

This is all a bit confusing but it involves the B Side of 71_154, Bruce Ruffin - Rain.

The single was released with three pressings and three different B Sides - either “Off limits”, “Geronimo” or “Stingo”. And to confuse things even further, as with a lot of these Trojan releases, the A Side artist was not necessarily the same on the B Side.

In this particular instance, “Geronimo” and “Stingo” were by The Pyramids whereas, “Off Limits” was by The Aquarians. However it is highly possible that it could also be credited to Bruce Ruffin.

We do have Geronimo and Stingo should be with us fairly soon.

The last track we need is Off limits.

If there’s any chance you have this or could get hold of a copy please, it would put the seal on 1971. if you can, please let us know or provide via the usual resources.

Many Thanks

Tel

Hi everybody

We'll with the help of Jimbo this has been resolved to the best of our ability.

The 1st pressing of Rain with the Off Limits b Side is actually a label misprint. Off Limits is in fact Geronimo.

So though we actually have 3 releases, there are in fact only 2 B Sides, Geronimo and Stingo, both of which will feature in the full 1971 posting.

However we do have a copy of the misprinted label (which actually says Off Limits - Bruce Ruffin) which we have passed over to Lonnie for the label collection.
