1954 Repost

Postby Glinty » Fri Aug 10, 2007 8:55 pm

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for the 1954 repost, I had a look through my mates vinyl collection for some of the missing labels and found about 30 which I have just posted in the 1950's newsgroup.

Is there any chance that when you issue a music wanted list you also issue a labels wanted list for the same year so that I can check for both at the same time?

Cheers

1955 Labels

Postby kirkm » Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:24 am

Hi Glinty,

Sure thing. For 1955 labels it may be easier to show you what we have so you can see which sides, country, and if poor.

There is a bit of weeding needed but a quick cut and paste is at

Thanks - Kirk

Thanks Kirk, I'll have a look for the missing ones and try to get any I find to you before your 1955 Repost.

Hi Kirk,

Ive had alook for 1955 labels and found 46 records (92 Labels) which I've just zipped up and posted in the 1950's newsgroup. You may already have a couple of them but I've included them anyway in case the quality is better.

Hi Glinty,

That's a great addition to 1955 labels. Thanks for all your hard work.
Some excellent upgrades too, and interesting to see the misprint on u55_001b.
Cheers - Kirk

Hi Kirk,
I hadn't noticed that misprint, it's just as well that we had two copies of the record. I'm not sure what the difference is between the "London" and "London American" labels. I must tell my mate Dave who owns the records, it might make it more valuable.

Hi Glinty,

Technically it mightn't be a 'misprint' - more a mistake with the title? Maybe only 50 were pressed before they realised and its worth a fortune!

I also don't know about 'London' Vs 'London-American'. We had the same trademarks here, although they were manufactured by Decca's competitor - EMI. Maybe they just added to the name to reflect the origins.

There were only 3 pressing plants in NZ and EMI were by far the best - their 45s in particular had less distortion and were much quieter.

Cheers - Kirk
