Playlists

Postby BoroButch » Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:54 am

Hi Kirk,

Regarding the Yearly Playlist, generated by double clicking on the Year column, would it be possible to have the list in 'Date Entered' order rather than 'Peaked' order.
The reason I ask is I would like to make some chronological Playlists.
If you want to keep the default order 'Peaked', then could you add a 'Date Entered' tab, so I can rearrange them.

Regards,
Steve.

Hi Steve,

Sure thing !
Search for 'Sub PopulateSheet'

The first line there that starts with 'Call' is -

Code: Select all

Call WriteCell("Reports", Format(Cells(r, 23), "mmm yyyy"), "A" & Ct): Rem date peaked

Change that line to -

Code: Select all

Call WriteCell("Reports", Format(Cells(r, 22), "dd mmm yyyy"), "A" & Ct): Rem date peaked

Then:-

1. Unhide frmReports (Format-Sheet-Unhide)
2. Select all of Column A. Right click - Format Cells - Custom
3 Change Type from "mmm yyyy" to "dd mmm yyyy"

The Forms field may be too small to show the full date, but only the year will be truncated.
Try a sort with without Steps 1-3. It may still sort correctly.

Also, once you have the Reports sheet showing you can use direct Excel commands to get the required output :D

Cheers - Kirk

Cheers Kirk, works great.

The saved playlists need a bit of editing, ie. tracks that entered near the end of the year and peaked in the next year. But that's easily done with Notepad and a bit of cut-n-paste.

Thanks,
Steve.

Is it possible to make one big playlist of every track, in Date Entered order. Then I could split it into years?

Yes, the easiest was to do that would be to select Column V and click the A=Z Sort Ascending button.
If you save the Sheet it will stay like that, but the same done to column B should restore it... or copy the xls file and use that one.

Have you got Access? The Backend has the same data in a table, and you could make a query on that to extract just what you want, and in what order.
