Seeking a hand

Postby kirkm » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:13 am

First up, Happy new year to all Britburners!!

Is anyone an iTunes user? I'm after an album for our collection but can't buy it unless I'm in the UK. This makes it somewhat expensive, LOL. If anyone local can buy it and pass it on I'll Paypal the costs. I'm told it'll be in m4a format, but that's OK. PM me if interested .

Cheers - Kirk

PS I suppose I should say what it is in case someone already has it !

Hi Kirk,
I have just borrowed two copies of this from a mate of mine, one Mono and one Stereo, which one would you like, or maybe both.
The mono one is Parlophone PMC 1216 and the stereo one is Parlophone PCS 3052.

Cheers and Happy New Year,

Glyn

Hi Glyn, my guess is any one of those would be better than the i-tunes version - sounds like someone has got a tape of the album and chopped it into tracks with a pair of scissors!

Happy New Year

Hi Rob, Glyn,

Superb, many thanks, especially working out the iTunes one was a bit rough. As for mono or stereo our copy of the earlier one (uLP60_036) is stereo and was recorded that way, so stereo would be fine. Unless the mono LP is is better shape, perhaps...

I imagine they are same recording? For the other I've noted in the comment

Recorded during the final performance at the Fortune Theatre, London, on May
2nd 1959, this was Parlophones first stereo LP. It is different to the 1957 mono
release (Parlophone PMC 1033) with the same title.

Terry & I have been quite busy collecting albums (as well as other things) over the last few months and we're making good progress. Expect more news shortly ! Thanks again :)

Cheers - Kirk
