1980 Labels

Postby Glinty » Thu Apr 29, 2010 1:23 am

Hi Kirk/Bert

I've just posted some 1980's Labels in the 80's newsgroup. Could you make sure Lonnie gets them for his updates.

Hi Kirk,
I notice that these have been posted on the label updates page already, quick work.
Just one question, I notice that the 4 labels that I posted for u86_017 (Wham - The Edge Of Heaven/Where Did Your Heart Go) have been omitted. I have this record as a double record set, hence the 4 labels, the GBHS confirms this, but the spreadsheet and the existing label archives only shows two tracks, one from each record. Do you have any other information to confirm which is correct. Maybe both are.

Cheers

Hi Glinty,

I don't know... so many formats, versions etc for that era, but we'll get to the bottom of it. Is your set also FIN 1 ? Bert and others will see this and have an idea and I'll also ask Lonnie.

Hi Kirk,

Yes the record number is FIN 1 with the 4 sides marked A,B,C & D. Also disc 1 has "Record one of a two record set" printed in the middle and disc 2 has "Record two of a two record set" printed in the middle. I've just noticed that the spreadsheet shows sides A & D of the 2 record set and the existing label archive shows sides A & B of the 2 record set.

Record 1 Side A = The Edge Of Heaven
Record 1 Side B = Wham Rap '86
Record 2 Side C = Battlestations
Record 2 Side D = Where Did Your Heart Go?

Cheers

Hi Glinty,

The 80's team can decide but I'd suggest linking 86_017 and 86_282 together with a comment
and show 'Wham Rap '86—Battlestations' as a Multi B-side for both. Also use Format 2x7"
for both.
Ahh, for a 'normal' 10" 78... Looking back it was so easy then.

Incidentally, Lonnie replied "I left the Wham labels out because we had only two tracks on the ss, also my GBHS (Vol 18) only shows two tracks and the labels we already have only show two tracks."

Cheers - Kirk

Good spot.

The B-side entry for 86_017 becomes

Wham Rap '86—Battlestations—Where Did Your Heart Go

Code: Select all

1. Wham Rap '86 (George Michael/Andrew Ridgeley) 06.33
2. Battlestations (George Michael) 05.32
3. Where Did Your Heart Go? (Don Was/Dave Was) 05.45
Time: 17.50 / Composer: See Comment / Format: 2x7" A

and for 86_262

The Edge Of Heaven—Wham Rap '86—Battlestations

Code: Select all

1. The Edge Of Heaven (George Michael) 04.37
2. Wham Rap '86 (George Michael/Andrew Ridgeley) 06.33
3. Battlestations (George Michael) 05.32
Time: 16.42 / Composer: See Comment / Format: 2x7" B

Thanks,

B

Thanks Kirk/Bert. The GBHS that had the note about the 2 record set was Edition 19.
