Seems the Mac's 'Excel 2008' doesn't allow VB macros.
Glad I don't have a Mac

Just posted two labels to a.b.s.1970s.mp3
u71_124a and u71_124b

For record: u71_124 - Peter Noone & Herman's Hermits - Lady Barbara

My first label scans so go easy on me. They're about 750x750 at 200dpi.
Hope they're acceptable.

Steve.

Just posted another two u72_057a and u72_057b.

I've sorted my 7" singles into years so I can work my way through which ones are needed.
Each year the pile get's bigger and bigger and until 1981 and 1982 which are the biggest piles then 1983 and 1984 get smaller. I don't think I bought any 7" singles after that.
Got married in 1985, that might explain it.

Thanks Steve. Those resolutions are fine. I use 300dpi but 200 is good enough!
Did you just get the scanner? Hope we don't wear it out prematurely!

You learn something new everyday! I first right-clicked the label, then SaveAs and ended up with a 400x400 image. THEN fluked a normal click and, viola! Up came the label in my browser - where a right click there gave the full 750x750 image.

I bet Bert alraedy knew that :? :o

Thanks - nice quality!

Hi KoS,

No worries.... so it was you who posted them! You used nick 'Lonnie' which completely threw me as we have a 'Lonnie' who does all the labels religiously to 740x740... so the idea of 39MB ones from him had me wondering....

But many thanks, we can fix em! And in meantime I can check how much dust you left in the grooves!

Cheers - Kirk

Hi, glad you like. My real name is Lonnie, so I use that quite a lot for some things. Getting used to things on the posting lark though.... Sorry for any confusion!

Kirk

1st lot of scans as discussed. These are all at 600dpi and resized to 750x750.

Before I do anymore can you confirm they are okay.

Hi Tel,

They look a little bit washed out, if I'm being overly picky. If you have IrfanView try the Johnny Mathis one and auto-correct the colour then sharpen it twice and you'll see the difference ...

Of course, without us all calibrating our monitors exactly the same we're all seeing them slightly differently, so that could just be me :o)

Size and quality are perfect!

Cheers,

B

Yep see what you mean - however when I do it on the black labels they pick up every blemish.

I'll have a further play.

They're certainly 'OK' and with a little bit of tweaking are perfect !

If being super-crtical, there's a lack of contrast and they could be a smidgeon sharper. Is this a new scanner? If yes, it should do better... perhaps some default settings are out? But, they're a darn sight better than soooo many we get online!

Send away and Lonnie (not the real Lonnie) will tweak 'em anyway.

Kirk

I think the problem was with the sleeve I was using to keep the things in the right position. However I have rescanned them at 300dpi and sharpened as suggested in Infranview and they look a hell of a lot sharper. The 600dpi was a bit too much for showing every little spot.

Anyway here they are rescanned (split over two posts because of file size), auto adjusted and sharpened in Infranview. If these are okay I'll do the rest.

If the zip files go over the 2meg limit shall I just upload to the server or split the zips into 2 meg files?
