Hi Again Glyn

Can you try the 1977-79 checksums with this one:

http://www.britburn.co.uk/files/tools/bVerify2.1.exe

Yours may be different... I've looked through all the code and can't see a Stop statement in it anywhere!

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for the posts, there is one missing (u80_179a).
u80_584a-d are the same as the ones I have and also fail the checksum.
The 1989 checksum file is the only one to use 4 digit years and it does need the files to use the 4 digit format as well. I think the files were originally posted in 4 digit format but I renamed them to 2 digit because at that time they were the only ones to use the 4 digits. I've now renamed them back to 4 digit so that is not a problem anymore.
I thought I had the latest version of the verify program, ver. 2.1, but when I open the program it shows ver.2.24 and your new one shows as ver.2.27. This version works ok on 1977-1979.
Now that I can check these 3 years a lot of LOA errors have shown up but as these years are being worked on at the moment I will wait until the new posts for the updates

Cheers
Glyn

PS new spreadsheet is still looking good.

Hi Kirk,

Reading Glinty's post and recognizing the "Stop - statement error" (I also had seen that one when trying to check 1977 thru 1979) I decided to check using the latest Britburn Verify (2.27).

No errors using this version and similar results as Glinty for 1977 and 1978; i.e. a lot of LOA errors, so I'll happily wait for future posts (including B-sides maybe :D).

For the other years (1979-82) everything checks out, except for:
u79_181a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
u79_301a - [Lo Bitrate] Lowrell - Mellow Mellow Right On [3.58 version].mp3 MISSING mp3 file
u79_333 FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
u79_457 FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
u80_351a (Check) FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
u81_657a - Cheryl Lynn - Shake It Up Tonight.mp3 MISSING mp3 file
u82_592a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

The year 1989 is one big mess for me with more than two thirds of the files failing  I will try some renaming and see whether this solves my problem here (I do remember having complete sets based on PAR2-checks once the initial post was done as well as for the separately posted EP's for that year).

Regarding the checksum files (v25) I noticed that a few peculiarities, on which you could maybe shed your light?

1) u79_301a - [Lo Bitrate] Lowrell - Mellow Mellow Right On [3.58 version].mp3 --> looks like it doesn't have a checksum for this mp3 in the checksum file, but just the filename
2) u81_657a MISSING mp3 file --> numbering jumps from 573 to 657, is this an early posted
bubbler?
3) It looks like the 1989 checksum file is missing 409a and 510a, whereas these mp3-files were posted earlier.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Hi Glyn,

Glinty wrote:I thought I had the latest version of the verify program, ver. 2.1, but when I open the program it shows ver.2.24 and your new one shows as ver.2.27. This version works ok on 1977-1979.

There's a reason for the filename staying the same - if it changed the details in the registry would need updating every time a new version was used. I really didn't want to this as writing to the registry is not for amateurs and could cause (or be blamed!!) for something going wrong. This may be way too cautious but there it is! So the actual version number (2.27) is shown in the Title bar, and in the output text file. I'll change the web page link to make that more obvious.

u80_179a is in your Dropbox and I'll repost the 'right' u80_584.

It's probably fair to say that anything from the original posts for 1977 and later could be considered 'interim' and will be greatly improved as they're reposted. Lots more folk are involved now and better able to find the 'right' versions.

Hi Ronnie,

Will get those ones you're posted to your attention. You're onto it with everything else and I realise now it might have been better (and less confusing) to not have checksums yet for these later years (1977+) that are still being worked on. The problem is they're built from Folders that are continuing getting files added and removed.

79_301 is flagged Lo Bitrate to ID it as such - and to confirm it (3:58) or the alt at 10mins is what we want.
Yes, 81_657 is a premature bubbler! All of 1989 needs re-working and that will happen soon. The final and correct numberings, both Official and Bubbler, will be in the next spreadsheet - v1.42.

Hi Glyn, Ronnie

Here's a new 1980 Checksum.

http://www.britburn.co.uk/files/u80aChecksum.bb

With a bit of luck in may help ID some in question, and I suspect you do have the latest copies of 80_584 (but the last checksum didn't!)

Couple of things, there are 2 entries for 80_042 and 80_351 until we confirm which is correct. There's also no u80_598a - Bow Wow Wow - Louis Quatorze.mp3. See u80_525a.
Three files 80_599 to 80_601 are renumbered 598-600. There are no 1980 bubblers.

1980 hasn't yet had the scrutiny of previous years, but is in line for 'the 'treatment' soon'. Terry & I are currently up to 1977, while diverting occasionally to 1936 and also developing the 'next big thing' :D

Ronnie, about to Post six tracks for you, excluding 79_301a which is around but I haven't a copy here right now.

Much appreciated Kirk!

Just grabbed the files, renumbered a few 1980-tracks and now I'm fully up-to-date for 52-76 and 80-82.

Cheers,
Ronnie
