The current macro spreadsheet v9998 will not Inport label bb files correctly , only mp3 ones.

Label one will also be copied to the mp3 folder, which is wrong. Just manually move them to the right place. This is fixed in v99987 due very soon.

What an incredibly poorly performing forum site!! Registration asked me to accept a t&c that it didnt even display! When I selected "british english" as my language, it cancelled my registration and sent me back to the home page!

May I suggest standardisation of your version numbering? It appears you just tack another number on the end every release... ;)

Hi Kirk,

I've used the v2.1 checksum program and the bb-files of the 50's on my mp3-collection and I'd like to share my findings with you.

1952
all mp3's OK

1953
all mp3's OK

1954
54_055a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
54_528 MISSING mp3 file (Kay Starr)
54_528 MISSING mp3 file (Vera Lynn)
54_549 MISSING mp3 file (Les Howard)

1955
55_501 MISSING mp3 file (Don Cornell)
55_501 MISSING mp3 file (Leroy Holmes)
55_501 MISSING mp3 file (Les Baxter & His Orchestra)
55_501 MISSING mp3 file (Roy Hamilton)
55_501 MISSING mp3 file (The Crew Cuts)
55_502 MISSING mp3 file (Alma Cogan)
55_503 MISSING mp3 file (Felicia Sanders)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (George Shearing)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (Gordon MacRae)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (Ronnie Harris)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (Tony Martin)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (Vic Damone)
55_504 MISSING mp3 file (Winifred Atwell)
55_505 MISSING mp3 file (Buddy Morrow)
55_505 MISSING mp3 file (The Lancers)
55_505 MISSING mp3 file (Vaughn Monroe)

1956
56_188a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
56_205c FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK
56_541 MISSING mp3 file (Hedley Ward Trio)
56_541 MISSING mp3 file (The Deep River Boys)

1957
57_052a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
57_532 MISSING mp3 file (Larry Page)

1958
58_063a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_122a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

1959
59_046 FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
59_168a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
59_171a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
59_199a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

Could you do me a big favour and help me with a repost of the above mp3's?

Next to the observations above it looks like mp3's 58_189-58_200 and 58_202-58_205 have duplicated entries in 1958a-file. Over the next few days I will check my 60's and 80's files against the checksums.

Thanks,
Ronald

Hi Ronnie,

No worries.... about to post to the usual place. The Sheet Music 500 series have never been posted as the collections aren't complete yet. Also note they're not fully tagged.

Thanks for letting me know about the duplicates.. somehow they'd crept in - now removed :)

The most significant upgrade is (probably) u59_199a. I didn't know there was a special UK version,
until recently although they could have used 'Rolls Royce" and "Austin 7" instead of 'limousine" and 'bubble car'? Or would the BBC have considered it advertising ??? :?

Well of course, it was intelligent enough to know you weren't even British !! And besides if you don't take your 't&c' as directed, you're asking for trouble :D

May I suggest standardisation of your version numbering? It appears you just tack another number on the end every release... ;)

Ah, you noticed that, did you  This is in keeping with the well known standard which could be defined as VersionX = Version X+1. The actual version number is incremented by one. This makes it different to the earlier one, and is an important factor in indentification. I suppose we could have subtracted it, or summed them or even rotated on left... but that might have been confusing.

Keep happy now

I got very confused by Beep Beep. My recollection from childhood knows it as "The Bubble Car Song" so when I heard the American Version with "Nash Rambler" and "Cadillac" after many years I thought I had finally lost it!

Fortunately a search of the Whirlygig forum cleared up the mystery.

Bubble Car works so much better than anything else mainly because of the complete ridicule they are now remembered with. It's best feature was it could'nt reverse so you had to get out and push it if you wanted to go backwards.

But I suspect you're correct and it would not have escaped the then BBC strict advertising rules.

These days they could play it with with "Rolls Royce" and "Austin 7" but would have to qualify it with "other luxury and crap cars are available!!"

Interestingly the UK (or European) version seems to be in a different key to the US Version (either that or my UK version is running slow but it seems to be the same tempo).

And the UK version has more Beep Beep's than the US version :P

Hi Kirk,

Sorry to jump on the band wagon but I've also been using the new checksum files and apart from the ones that you have already posted for Ronnie could you please post the following:-

u1954_021a
u1956_182a
u1958_100a
u1959_181a

All four are failing as "Length of Audio Error".

Hi Glinty,

Going up you know where :)

Glinty wrote:All four are failing as "Length of Audio Error".

Suggesting thy're different files... I don't recall the first two being changed though.

With 58_100 a low bitrate VBR version is in the checksum and I found a better 160 S CBR which might be what you already have? Winamp reports its size as 3024473 bytes.

Dickie Pryde came from CD and could have replaced a vinyl rip.

Hi Kirk,

Thanks for posting my missing 50's files, I've checked them and I'm fully up-to-date now!

I've been checking the 1960, 1961 and 1962 checksums this morning and, even after going through all of my hard drives, it seems I'm missing a few tunes there as well. Could you do me another favour by posting them?

1960a
60_538 MISSING mp3 file ([bad] Tolchard Evans)
60_587 MISSING mp3 file (Tony Brent)
60_587a MISSING mp3 file (Robert Earl)
60_602 MISSING mp3 file (Bud Flanagan)
60_612a MISSING mp3 file (Danny Kaye & Louis Armstrong)
60_620 MISSING mp3 file (Lyn Cornell)
60_627 MISSING mp3 file ([bad] David MacBeth)
60_628a MISSING mp3 file (Petula Clark)
60_629a MISSING mp3 file (Bill Haley & His Comets)
60_630 MISSING mp3 file (Winifred Atwell)
60_630a MISSING mp3 file (The Flamingos)
60_635a MISSING mp3 file (Winifred Atwell)
60_637 MISSING mp3 file (Donald Peers)
60_639a MISSING mp3 file (Brook Benton)
60_639a MISSING mp3 file (Emile Ford & The Checkmates)
60_639a MISSING mp3 file (Julie Grant)

1960b
60_131b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
60_341b MISSING mp3 file

1961a
61_169 FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
61_216a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK
61_606 MISSING mp3 file (Malcolm Vaughan)

1961b
61_005b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
61_205b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

1962a
62_278a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
62_284a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
62_288a FAIL (Last 255 bytes of file) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK

1962b
62_003b FAIL (Last 255 bytes of file) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
62_032b FAIL (255 bytes following Start of Audio) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK
62_093b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
62_119b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
62_164b (alt)- The Spotnicks MISSING mp3 file
62_197b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

And for the perfectionists:
* I noticed a small typo in the u62_275e the "es" after "05" should removed in: "u62_275e - Kid Galahad - Elvis Presley - 05es - I Got Lucky.mp3"
* It looks like there's no u62_278b in the bb-checksum-file

Cheers,
Ronald

Hi Ron,

Just about to post 'em now. The sheet music tracks are not really ready and will change when the first 'official' post occurs. Some need cleaning or upgrading and most probably need tagging.

Thanks for that :D All fixed.

Postby RonnieV » Mon Nov 08, 2010 10:53 pm

Hi Kirk,

I grabbed the tracks from 1960 to 1962 and they all match the checksums. Thanks again!!!

I just spend another hour of checking my collection on my hard drives to the reference files in the checksums for 1963-1966 and 1980-1981 with the following results:

1963a
63_519 MISSING mp3 file (The Stargazers)
63_571 MISSING mp3 file (Nina & Frederik)

1964a
64_201a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

1964b
64_095b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
64_205b MISSING mp3 file
64_250b MISSING mp3 file
64_256b FAIL (Last 255 bytes of file) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
64_260b MISSING mp3 file
64_268b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

1965b
65_307b MISSING mp3 file

1966b
66_106b alt MISSING mp3 file
66_121b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
66_192b alt MISSING mp3 file

1980a
80_002a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
80_016a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
80_065a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
80_119a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

1981a
81_083a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
81_309a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 OK

Can I request another repost?

For the perfectionists:
* u64_092b seems to be duplicated in the checksum file as u64_092b22
* u66_299b placeholder can be removed.

Cheers,
Ronnie

I've finished checking the 1950s with the latest checksums, could I please have the following reposts:

55_139a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

56_089b MISSING mp3 file
56_167b MISSING mp3 file
56_188a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
56_192d MISSING mp3 file
56_205c FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK

58_065s MISSING mp3 file
58_101s MISSING mp3 file
58_102s MISSING mp3 file
58_107s MISSING mp3 file
58_114b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_119b MISSING mp3 file
58_119c MISSING mp3 file
58_119d MISSING mp3 file
58_119e MISSING mp3 file
58_127b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_147s MISSING mp3 file
58_150b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_163b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_176b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_181 MISSING mp3 file
58_184s MISSING mp3 file
58_188s MISSING mp3 file
58_201b MISSING mp3 file
58_201c MISSING mp3 file
58_201d MISSING mp3 file

I don't understand what is going on with u58_189a onwards (bar 201), I get entries like this:
58_189a OK ID3v1 OK ID3v2 Fails
58_189a MISSING mp3 file

and the .bb file contains 2 entries with different checksums as in the following:
u58_189 - Elvis Presley - I Beg Of You.mp35F2EZ14DCZ2253C1ZBBFZ4098A1C3Z225D7A
u58_189a - Elvis Presley - I Beg Of You.mp35C97Z14DCZ2253C1ZBBFZ4098A1C3Z225D7A

Should I have 2 copies of these files?

It would appear there is a problem with the checksum program The following errors:
58_114b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_127b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_150b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_163b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails
58_176b FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 Fails ID3v2 Fails

were picked up by the A-side checksums, the files passed the B-side tests. What it should have said was:
58_114a MISSING mp3 file
58_127a MISSING mp3 file
58_150a MISSING mp3 file
58_163a MISSING mp3 file
58_176a MISSING mp3 file

Hi Rejects,

It looks like I've copied some mp3's into my 1958 A-Side folder where instead of overwriting the old ones, it's added them. (Because some have the 'a' Subletter and some don't.) My fault - sorry! They're no longer in the folder but must have been there when the checksum file was created.
But apart from the subletter they're identical, so no, you don't need two. The checksum prog said OK and Missing for the same file because, according to that .bb file, they were !!

Please use this one instead-

http://www.britburn.co.uk/files/other/u58aChecksum.bb

and I'll upload a replacement .bb zip asap.

Cheers - Kirk
