You've got me here, I can't duplicate or see how the A-Side program could do anything but flag any B-Sides it finds as 'Additional'. Tell me more? If there is a problem we'll fix it yesterday ! :D

Hi Ron, this one is half missing :D

Currently en route to Bassmans place from NetSounds. Should have it in a day or two.
The current track is the *wrong* song but we didn't know that at the time. (And I'm fairly sure it's the only time this has happened).

I have u58_114b - Buddy Holly - Now We're One.mp3 which was reported as OK by the B-side checksum.

I don't have u58_114a at all. Without seeing the source code my guess would be that as the entry in the .bb file is:

u58_114 - Buddy Holly - Early In The Morning.mp361B1Z1863Z264800Z780Z05720389Z264D7

then it looks for a filename beginning "u58_114", finds the B-side with a different checksum and reports it as an error.

The files listed in the previous post are everything that is causing me problems now up to and including 1966, with these 1958 anomalies hand-corrected. A small number of the files are present in the newsgroups but are corrupt on Usenetserver's servers. I challenged them about their so-called 600 day retention giving examples and they jumped down my throat about copyright infringement.

That's because the only B-Side files expected in the A-Side folder are album tracks 2's. There are separate .bb files for each side. If you group them together they'll all be treated as the expected side. This goes back right to the start - before any B-Sides were included - and there was nothing to indicate the Side. When the 'a' was added it was too late, and tracks with no subletter had to be interpreted as 'a'. It's easy to look for u58_114* and get everything, but to look for u58_114a* would miss some. Sure, there's many ways to get around this but the separate Side Folders had became established. It also allowed for splitting files between drives if space was short. (All this is only matters for the verify program and if playing tracks from the macro speadsheet.)

I challenged them about their so-called 600 day retention giving examples and they jumped down my throat about copyright infringement.

Hope you told them it's their fault for propagating them in the first place?

I haven't, I don't want to lose my usenet.

Thanks for posting those fills, the only one I still have a problem with is:

61_216a FAIL (Length of Audio Error) ID3v1 OK ID3v2 OK

Could you please repost this one?

I've managed to get that script working, the problem was the lines:
SSD = AddTimes(SSD, "")
FD = AddTimes(BRD(0), "")

I changed the empty strings to "00 00" and it worked.

I've tagged the 1970s upgrades, however I would have expected more running time warnings to have been issued, here are a few that I know of that slipped through the net:

u75_021 - Hot Chocolate - You Sexy Thing.mp3 03:34
u76_127 - Electric Light Orchestra - Evil Woman.mp3 03:28
u76_337 - Peter Frampton - Baby I Love Your Way.mp3 03:39
u77_323 - Peter Frampton - I'm In You.mp3 04:10
u78_048 - The Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive.mp3 03:42
u78_291 - Foreigner - Feels Like The First Time.mp3 03:32
u79_009 - Village People - Y.M.C.A..mp3 04:03
u79_176 - Toto - Hold The Line.mp3 03:59
u79_318 - Scorpions - Is There Anybody There.mp3 04:19

It failed on a handful, mostly EP tracks. Could you please tell me the correct filename for the following:
u76_287d - Be Bop Deluxe - Hot Valves (EP) - 04 - Blazing Apostles.mp3
u77_144b - Genesis - Spot The Pigeon (EP) - 02 - Pigeons.mp3
u77_144c - Genesis - Spot The Pigeon (EP) - 03 - Inside And Out.mp3
u78_184c - Tom Robinson Band - Rising Free (EP) - 03 - Martin.mp3

It also objected to these for some reason:
u77_010a - David Soul - Silver Lady.mp3
u78_052a - Andrew Gold - Never Let Her Slip Away.mp3

I have 164 files that were successfully tagged and not warned about, but because of those that incorrectly passed I'm a bit reluctant to post them yet, I don't intend manually checking the running times of 164 files against the spreadsheet. All these are 320k/s and I know of at least one, u72_132a - Strawbs - Lay Down.mp3, where I have upgraded the incorrect version to the 7".

OK, I've fixed the running time problem, the code stated
If TDiff > 15 Then Debug.Print Serial & " Time Differnce " & TDiff & " Seconds" '<<<<<<<<CHANGE 15 to number seconds diff allowed
and should have been
If TDiff < -15 Or TDiff > 15 Then Debug.Print Serial & " Time Differnce " & TDiff & " Seconds" '<<<<<<<<CHANGE 15 to number seconds diff allowed

This results in 151 "good" files. However there are a handful of the alt versions I have my doubts about being alt due to the source (eg ABBA CD singles box set), I may post a list of these and see if anyone can confirm the spreadsheet or rip as being correct.

Once I have those EP tracks resolved I'll post them to Usenet.

Hi Rejects,

I'll post 61_216a to your attention and will send a pm about the script - which I've completely forgotten about and /or what we were doing with it ! Sorry

u77_144c - Genesis - Spot The Pigeon (EP) - 03 - Inside And Out.mp3
u78_184c - Tom Robinson Band - Rising Free (EP) - 03 - Martin.mp3

76_287 shows a different track order in GBHS and a different one again in the spreadsheet.... unless there were differing releases?? But from one set of labels -

Side 1 As per spreadsheet
Side 2
u76_287c - Be Bop Deluxe - Hot Valves EP 3 - Blazing Apostles.mp3
u76_287d - Be Bop Deluxe - Hot Valves EP 4 - Jet Silver And The Dolls Of Venus.mp3

77_144 Correct as above

78_184 Will need to double check... Track 3 is 'Martin', but was it an EP or a Maxi-Single?
GBHS lists just one track. Our data has album name 'Rising Free' but that doesn't appear on the labels.

Cheers - Kirk

I have the TRB EP on vinyl. I can't lay my hands on it at present but it definitely says "Rising Free EP" on the sleeve and from memory I think this is how it was referred to on chart listings at the time.

Just reminding you in case you'd forgotten about this.

If anyone has been following my posts about the 1970s above I have 240 tracks to date and should have a load more over the next week or so, expect to see a significant upgrade to the 70s soon.
