Britburn 500 Series

Thanks to the personal files belonging to Ossie Dales (noted re-issue compiler and liner notes writer), a comprehensive list of UK sheet Music charts from 1939 to 1965 has been created and incuded in the Spreadsheet. Britburn would also like to thank Brian Henson ('First Hits - The book of Sheet Music 1946-59') for his input and permission to use his book for research.

The Sheet Music charts are available only in the Britburn Macro Spreadsheet because they don't exist as an actual list but are created on-the-fly by the macros in the spreadsheet depending on the date or title input by the user.

Each of the titles has been assigned a year and serial number in the same way as the Record Sales titles but whereas they focus on the actual recordings, the Sheet Music numbers represents the song itself. This means the same serial number is allocated to any/all versions of the same song. From 1952 to 1965 the Sheet Music 3 digit serial numbers start at 501, instead of 001, to distinguish the two.

Lyrics, labels and mp3 files can use either Serial numbers, but to avoid duplication any Sheet Music tracks that also exist as Record Sales tracks are cross referenced and hard wired. (For example clicking on u63_502 to show that label will use the u63_015.jpg file.)

Spreadsheet column CN contains principal artists and labels. This is intended to list those versions available and popular at chart date, but is incomplete and still a work-in-progress.
